Cha Yoga Centre is in the foothills of the Serra Da Lousa, near the river Ceira, in Central Portugal. You are welcome to visit here whether you are a teacher who needs some quiet space or you've never experienced yoga before or are somewhere in between.
The aim of the Centre is to make the teachings of yoga available through asana ( posture) practice, yogic breathing ( pranayama ) and meditation, with the guidance of an experienced teacher. It is self catering and vegan. Breakfast is provided, and help with vegan cooking is on hand if needed. There are organic fruits and herbs in the garden, and basics like teas, organic brown rice, oats, soya milk and almond milk are provided. A yogic life style is followed here so there is no alcohol, mobile phones can be used and there is free high speed internet access but we ask that generally phones are switched off in communal areas and particularly around the yoga terraces.
We rescue dogs, and work with two rescue centers in Portugal, one in Lisbon and one in the Algarve. There are four dogs at the moment up at Cinnamon House - they love doing yoga in the sun, and you’re welcome to visit them at this house just two minutes walk from the main house ( Keys House ) and say hello to them.
Yoga moves us to a better place. It’s not about how bendy you are, but about your own journey to your true self, a journey to freedom. Postures and the breathe open a pathway to notice how we are in the present moment. The Centre offers space for you to do this with time for you to just be, to find stillness which ultimately is where everything happens.

Yoga is a path which is accessible to each of us, we feel better, and can move consciously in the right direction.
Here at Cha a stillness in nature also helps create space inside where we can re-tune ourselves, begin to let go, and if yoga is about anything, it is about letting go.
